Updated version
Ben 10: Alien Force, 2008. Developed by Vicious Cycle Software under its Monkey Bar Games label, published by D3 Publisher, released 28 October 2008 in North America and 16 February 2009 in Europe. PS2, Wii, PSP, with a separate DS version by 1st Playable Productions. Runs on the Vicious Engine.
Ben 10: Alien Force, Vilgax Attacks, 2009. Developed by Papaya Studio, same publisher, released 27 October 2009 in North America and 12 March 2010 in Europe. PS2, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, with 1st Playable again handling DS.
The first is based on the opening two seasons of the show. Vilgax Attacks covers the third and final season.
The 2008 game: story and structure
Ben, Gwen and Kevin are driving to an amusement pier when the car picks up a signal from alien artifacts on site. The Forever Knights are after the same artifacts. A Tetramand Plumber named Gorvan explains that the Highbreed want them too.
The chase across the game is for the components of a Highbreed weather tower, a device meant to make Earth habitable for the Highbreed and lethal for everyone currently living on it. Gorvan turns out to be selling the technology to the Highbreed himself, which lands as a genuine twist inside a licensed kids' game. The last act is a scramble to shut the tower down, complicated by Ben switching it on by accident.
Mechanically it is a 3D side scroller rather than a free roaming action game. Eight playable characters, co-op, and a combo system with no hard cap. Ben's forms are the Alien Force roster: Swampfire, Jet Ray, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey, Big Chill. Gwen fights with energy shields and Kevin absorbs surfaces to armour himself, which is closer to the show than most licensed games manage.
The reception was poor. Metacritic recorded generally unfavourable reviews for the Wii version at 45 out of 100, and IGN gave it 4 out of 10. The recurring complaints were repetition and a camera that limits what a side on perspective can do with these powers.
Vilgax Attacks: story and structure
Vilgax invades Bellwood with a Null Void projector, releasing the prison dimension's population into the city. Ben goes for Alien X and Professor Paradox stops him, on the grounds that this is not the moment.
Ben beats Psyphon on the ground, then fights an animated Mr Smoothy sign, and cycling through his whole roster to do it puts the Omnitrix into reboot and locks most of his forms away. That is the excuse for the progression curve, and it is a better one than most games of this type bother with.
The rest takes Ben off Earth for the first time in the series, to the home planets of his own alien forms. Lava fields on Vulpin, temples on Terradino. Ten forms are playable across the game, including Echo Echo, Goop, Brainstorm, Chromastone, Big Chill, Humungousaur, Spidermonkey, Swampfire, Jet Ray and Cannonbolt. There is an upgradeable spacecraft between planets with shooting sections attached.
Combat is combo based with wave spawns and big screen clearing specials. Energy spheres dropped by enemies buy new abilities, and each form's powers draw from an Omnitrix meter you have to let recharge.
Reviews were mixed rather than negative, which is a step up. The consistent note was that it rewards knowing the show and confuses anyone who does not, and that the platforming suffers from invisible walls and camera trouble.
Which one to play
Vilgax Attacks, if you want the better game. More forms, more variety, an actual reason for the power curve, and level design that uses three dimensions.
The 2008 game is worth your time only if the co-op matters to you, because playing as Gwen and Kevin with their own move sets is the thing Vilgax Attacks does not offer.
Where a Ben 10 Alien Force PSP ISO legitimately comes from
One place: a UMD you own, dumped by you, on hardware you own. PPSSPP's own listing puts it the same way. No games included, use your own real PSP games and turn them into ISO or CSO files.
Neither game was brought to a modern storefront, so there is no legal digital purchase to point you at. Used UMDs still turn up, and that is the route. A game going out of print is a preservation problem, not a permission slip.
Emulator notes for a copy you already own
Verified against PPSSPP 1.20.4, the current stable build, released 16 May 2026.
Install from ppsspp.org or the Play Store listing. No BIOS file is needed, because PPSSPP implements the PSP system software in code.
Set the graphics backend before anything else, Vulkan on modern Android hardware and OpenGL if you hit a black screen. Raise the internal rendering resolution to 2x or 3x for the interface text, which is where PSP era games look worst on a large phone screen. Keep frame skipping at zero, since both games have timed inputs in boss encounters.
For the 2008 game specifically, map a controller if you have one. A side scroller with a combo system asks more of a d-pad than touch controls comfortably give.
What you should have now
The right game, first of all. Vilgax Attacks for the 3D action platformer people actually remember, the 2008 release for local co-op and a surprisingly sharp story twist.
That is the Ben 10 Alien Force PSP ISO question sorted out at the level that matters. More PSP and emulator writing sits on the blog.

FAQ
Which Ben 10 Alien Force game is on PSP? Both. The 2008 Alien Force and the 2009 Vilgax Attacks each had a PSP release, and they are different games.
Is Vilgax Attacks a sequel? It is the third Ben 10 game overall and the second based on Alien Force. It follows the show's third season rather than the first game's plot.
Can I play as Gwen and Kevin? In the 2008 game, yes, with their own abilities and co-op support. Vilgax Attacks is Ben only.
Are these games on any modern platform? No release I can find. Used physical copies are the only legitimate source.
